What would Breitbart being doing today?

Righteous Indignation: Excuse Me While I Save The World! by Andrew Breitbart
Grand Central Publishing, April 15th, 2011

Andrew Breitbart came to my knowledge at a time when I still would have described myself as conservative. It was at a time when I’d started to listen to the more dissident and unknown voices on the right but I still had what would now be described as a “cucky” way of thinking. Although certainly no man of virtue, I was put off by vulgarity and direct attacks on the left though starting to find the latter more thrilling and effective. Where I first saw Breitbart gives a good indication of where I was as it was on a program called ‘Uncommon Knowledge’ hosted by Peter Robinson. This I believe was the very video I saw and as you can see, this is a good example of the defensive bow-tie conservatism that I now detest.

Breitbart was unique not only for his background but for the way he began using the Left’s own tactics against them. He attacked relentlessly and wasn’t too worried about how he looked doing it. In the short time he was on the public stage, he changed the political game significantly. He can fairly be seen in hindsight as someone that paved the way to Trump’s triumph in 2016. This is the reason I was interested in reading this book.

Bridgete Jones’s Diary: Pride and Delusion

This is the second article I had written with the Return of Kings audience in mind. It follows from the first I posted a few weeks ago. They were both written around the same time.

A few years ago I started thinking about films I’d watched growing up and how my perspectives have changed since red-pilling. Films like Father of the Bride where Steve Martin’s character is portrayed as nasty for being reluctant to fund an obscenely expensive wedding for his daughter who got engaged after a few weeks of romance in Italy. Another is Look Who’s Talking where a woman gets knocked up by her boss spends most of the film thinking she’s too good for the taxi driver that actually gives her the time of day – until she finds out he’s actually a pilot, that is. I don’t think any bothers me so much as the film Bridget Jones’s Diary.

I noticed that the release of a third Bridget Jones film seemed to come and go without much notice back in 2016. In saying that I note that looking it up, it seems to have been as profitable as the last two and was by no means a financial flop. But then, these films aren’t really marketed to people like me and I don’t watch much television anyway. I am ashamed to admit that I once enjoyed the original Bridget Jones film when I was in my early 20s and saw nothing at all absurd in the premise. However, as mentioned, since taking the proverbial red pill my thoughts when remembering the events of the film have naturally taken a decidedly different turn.

Never Underestimate a Man

I had written two articles that I intended to submit for publication on the Return of Kings website. Less than a day after I had both drafts finished, Roosh V made the announcement that he was closing the site. So I am posting this one below and another probably next week. Both might be a little different to what I usually write here and that’s simply because of the audience I had in mind when I wrote them.

The character of James Bond would certainly be considered an ideal for any man who wants to maximise his attractiveness to women. With his unapologetic masculinity embodied in portrayals by Sean Connery, Roger Moore and Timothy Dalton; he has remained an attractive character to men and women alike. Even the more neutered, politically correct portrayals of Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig are beacons of masculinity compared to the pudgy weaklings with mouths grinning agape you see in social justice circles.

Although better known in the mainstream through film, the James Bond books are even better exemplars of this though, unlike the films, they are far more of interest to men than a general audience. The thrilling pulp novels are essentially male romance or fantasy and the genre is still common today though they tend to be historical fiction. They are also a window into the civilisation that was lost just a few decades after their publication.

Forgiven or Unforgiven?

I am ashamed of many things I did when I was a teenager. And if I could, I would go back and try to stop myself from doing them. I imagine many people feel the same way. There are even things I’m ashamed of well into my twenties and even up until a couple of years ago. Again, I imagine there are many people who feel the same way. There are even things I regret, doing, not doing, saying, not saying, feeling and not feeling almost every day. I imagine there are many who would also feel the same way.

There is a question of how long something should be held against a person. It is understandable that having done something particularly bad that one might be expected to go a long time without doing something similar before they are trusted. It is also understandable that early expressions of regret and requests for forgiveness, might not be readily believed initially. This is the price of crossing these boundaries whether they are religious, social or both. I think that most people accept that with time and evidence of genuine contrition that someone can be forgiven. That their past sins will not be held against them.

Basic Fitness – 10: Pay it forward

I mentioned at the end of eight that one of your goals should not just be helping you but helping and encouraging others. It is commonly observed that gymnasiums are much busier just after New Years when people have made resolutions to get fit. It is also commonly observed that things go very quickly back to normal as people give up on these goals.

Basic Fitness – 9: Straining the Stomach

I don’t know if this is still common, but I remember seeing the “food pyramid” posted around schools, hospitals and on various items in supermarkets such as cereal. This gave recommended servings from the different food groups. As I understand it, this has been replaced by something else. The recommended servings I thought ridiculous even as a child and I’d be willing to bet that anyone who followed it religiously would end up quite fat after a few months.  Continue reading

Basic Fitness – 8: Don’t Get Dragged Down

Of all I have written so far, this one might seem the most out of place but it is actually very important. The company you keep does affect you whether you think it does or not. As committed as you may be to achieving physical and mental well-being, this can still be affected by those around you. The simplest way is related to the habits of those of your family and friends. If they have poor diets and do not get regular exercise, this is something than can happen to you simply by osmosis. A more sinister might be how people around you may react to any success you have. This might be down to jealousy or just a false sense of concern. I shall give a couple of personal examples that illustrate what I’m saying.

Heroes of Play: The Zelda Series Ranked

I recently posted another article on Heroes of Play which was the first I have done in many months. Posts there (and here) have not been as regular because of a big change in circumstances and quite frankly – a lack of motivation. However, I do hope that will be changing soon.

I am posting it below but you can find it here.

Basic Fitness – 7: Pushing Beyond Routine

Keeping good exercise and dietary habits is important and something you should be proud of. However, this does not necessarily mean you should just rest on your laurels and keep doing exactly what you’re doing without change. You will notice as you go that exercise you previously found hard becomes much easier to the point of just being a routine. Similarly with your diet, you should start finding it just normal to avoid certain foods and eat well.
