Familiarity Breeds Contempt

Adam Piggott wrote an article on his new Substack about the Indian concept of “izzat”. This is from a post on Kiwi Farms which has spread through X as that is where I first read about it. Rather than try to put the concept in my own words, I will just quote from the Kiwi Farms thread as it is a good summary:

Izzat conflicts are not about who is right and who is wrong. It’s about who wins and who loses. This means it’s a zero-sum game where just about any action is justified (including murder) to restore the lost Izzat. Izzat is a limited social currency and the easiest way to get it is to take it from someone else. Winning is righteous in Izzat. Losing is unrighteous. This means that if someone plays the game of izzat well enough, they can get away with just about anything (murder, rape, scamming, cheating, stealing). The only morality in Izzat is the protection of your group’s collective ego. The only appropriate response when your Izzat is attacked is the complete destruction of whoever insulted it.

The first thing that came to mind when reading this was the less defined concept of ‘keeping it real’ among American blacks which I was introduced to on Chappelle’s Show around twenty years ago. The latter might not be as intensely ingrained as ‘izzat’ but it is similarly destructive and certainly irrational to the Western mind.

Before seeing this, I was thinking of writing something about it myself and his article has prompted me to do so.

Piggott’s further comments on the Indians he’d crossed paths with before they started arriving in Western countries en masse was also relevant. You see, my interactions with Indians have mostly been positive up until recently. Most Indians I know are Catholics and are polite, intelligent and well-mannered. I assume the others I’ve met have been the Anglophile kind Piggott mentioned.

Then there is Apu Nahasapeemapetilon from The Simpsons who was removed from the show when they discovered some twenty-five years after the show began, that he was racist. Yet, from my perspective, he was an endearing character and actually a positive portrayal of Indians in general; at least outside of his poor sanitary practices. His removal from the show didn’t really matter as I’d already stopped watching it many years ago but it was symbolic; especially as it was an Indian “comedian” that publicly pushed for it.

In the last few years there has been a reaction against Indians very similar to that against Muslim immigrants a few decades ago. This means it could well be inorganic but nobody should have to apologise for not wanting Indians, Arabs, Koreans, Nigerians or any people of any nation residing in their own. Indians have just become the more annoying of late as people become familiar with the realities of their culture. This started with customer service and phone scams and as they’ve become more numerous, other irritations such as body odour and other filthy habits have also contributed. The concept of ‘izzat’ suggests that we haven’t even seen the worst and we’ve already seen at least one case of domestic slavery and spouses being murdered in Australia. I know the latter certainly isn’t unknown but flying back to India to hand over your child to her parents as well as arranging her remains to be returned to them certainly is. I could hardly believe it when I read it.

It isn’t just Indian immigration that is the problem, it is all immigration but ‘izzat’ is a good example of what to expect if and or when they become a significant minority. I assume Indian immigrants are very wary of showing this behaviour openly to non-Indians for now but they will get bolder as their numbers increase. It is good to not just be aware of it but to make it known to others. The main wall I run into when discussing immigration outside of being called a ‘racist’ is that most Westerners particularly from Anglo countries, just cannot believe that the way other people think could be significantly different to their own. Even if they can, they can’t see how this behaviour might manifest until it happens.

If this malevolent destruction of Western nations through mass immigration is allowed to continue, there will be a counter-reaction. Some nations (unfortunately including Australia), may end up ceasing to exist but others will see deportations and mass violence before their is any hope of national renewal. And if you think your friendly local ethnics won’t be judged by the colour of their skin in such a scenario, you should re-evaluate your understanding of human nature.
